5 Ways To Be Productive While Working From Home During The COVID-19

The world is saddled with

the coronavirus and many workers who are not necessarily fans of working from home are forced to work from home. This transition might be difficult for some especially those with zero experience with regards to working from home. If you have never worked from home, it might be difficult for you to get used to this change. In this article, I am going to give you tips on how you can be productive while working from home during the COVID-19.

  • Create a list the night before: As an individual who goes to the office every day, this list might not be important for you because you already have an idea of how you want your day to go. The case is different when you are working from home because you might feel that you have so much time in your hands when in reality, you do not. So, you need to create a list of what you want to achieve the next day the night before and at the end of the day, look at it to see how productive you are.
  • Sleep early and wake up early: When you were going to work, no one cared if you slept late, you had to wake up early. Now, that you are working from home, I am very concerned about your health and productivity which is why I want you to sleep early so that you can wake up early. Having at least 7-8 hours of sleep every day will help you be more productive at home.
  • Create a suitable working space with less distraction: I am not asking you to break the bank to set up a working space. A suitable working space with less distraction can be your kitchen table, your dining table, anywhere that you are sure you can work without distractions.
  • Set boundaries; After creating this working space, you need to set boundaries. No social media while working, no distraction from family members, no entertaining of visitors because if you are at work, these boundaries are in place for you to be more productive. I believe it is important for you to keep the same energy too while working from home. Of course, you are allowed to take work calls and be on your work platform so you can communicate with your colleagues and be informed as regards what is going on around you.
  • Take a break; I believe there is something called lunch break at offices and I am sure you do not miss your lunch break when you are at work. Take a lunch break and even if you are not interested in eating, I believe it is a great time for you to take a walk, chat with friends or just breathe properly. A sedentary lifestyle will hurt you so if you have no plan to eat, just get up from your working space.

I believe with these tips, if you have been struggling with staying productive while working from home during the COVID-19, you can do things differently this time. I wish you all the best as we tackle this virus together while staying safe at the same time.
